Choosing Your Eyeglass Frame

How to Choose Eyeglass Frame

How do you choose eyeglass frames?

When choosing the eyeglass frames, we should select it based on what material used, are they strong and durable? Are we allergic to this material? Are they lightweight and comfortable? These are the important things that we need to be concerned about when we choose eyeglass frames but here at Nathalie Fordeyn Sunglasses the most important question for us is: Is it sustainable?

At present the eco-friendly trend is upcoming. We think it a very good thing because many facets of the fashion industry cause of a lot of waste to this world and in recent years, fashion designers around the world have increasingly focused on sustainability by choosing materials that are not toxic to the environment. We all believe we must take responsibility for the environment wherever we can…Global Warming is a very real threat to us all.

What is Acetate?

Acetate is a type of nylon-based plastic, and the frames are similar to plastic ones in many ways. Acetate can best be described as an exceptionally strong, hypoallergenic and flexible type of material, making it ideal for eyeglass frames you can wear comfortably all day long. Acetate is recognized for its strength, lightweight and flexibility.

The important thing is that there are many colors. There are many levels of transparency and we can create a variety of layers, however it’s not biodegradable so as a responsibly aware company we are looking for sustainable alternatives so this is something to consider when choosing your eyeglass frame.

Acetate eyewear is made by cutting a layer of acetate, polishing it by hand and then reassembling it into the body. The manufacturing process is quite complex but quality and properties make acetate the material of choice for high-end eyewear brands. The price ranges from about $139+

I would like you to know the eco-friendly material that is beginning to be used in many of our eyeglasses frames called “Eco-Acetate”. Eco Acetate is a broad term applied to acetate that is responsibly sourced – this can mean its recycled from factory waste, landfills or from sources such as recycled floating sea plastic.

Plant Based Acetate or Bio Acetate Cellulose acetate is a type of plastic. non-petroleum based, made from natural materials such as cotton and wood fiber, does not affect the environment like petroleum.

Choosing each pair of eyeglasses, you can’t just look at the design because when you have to wear glasses to protect one’s eyes, it’s not enough to just look good – it must be comfortable to wear, not heavy, not irritating and suitable for daily use. Therefore, knowing the material used to make eyeglasses is as important as choosing the right eyeglass shape for your face shape.
